1994 Toyota Land Cruiser

Affectionately called the Crusty Crab, this 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser didn’t have the prettiest body but was an absolute trail weapon. As I’ve shared before, the 80 series Land Cruiser was one of the most capable stock vehicles ever built by Toyota and honestly just about any major manufacturer. With options for factory front and rear locking differentials, a 4 linked rear end with radius arms up front, coil sprung axles, and an extremely reliable and stout 4.5l straight 6, they’re very hard to beat.

The Crusty Crab’s only downfall was that it started its life in Minnesota. That said, it had body corrosion issues but the previous owners had done an amazing job of keeping the underside in good shape with continual undercoating. Previous owners had also added some sweet practical mods such as extended diff breathers to the cowl, dual battery tray with two red top optima batteries paired together with an isolator, dual filler neck for an auxiliary fuel tank, arb safari snorkel, cb radio plumbed into the dash, center differential lock button added, rear bumper with swing out capabilities, and an old man emu 2.5” lift to clear 35” tires with plenty of room to spare.

With 272k miles, this cruiser was barely broken in with the maintenance that had been done and preventative measures taken. I added a Trail Gear front bumper and 3 old school hella lights across the front inspired from pre-runner style. Fresh 35” Falken Wildpeak at3w tires were also added. All lockers engaged flawlessly and were definitely tested out well on a few snow wheeling outings! Here are some more photos of the rig.

This truck stayed in the region and now lives in Spokane, WA with a dear friend. Funny enough back in 2016 I bought my first Land Cruiser from the same friend and it was a 1994 in the same color!
