2005 Toyota Tundra

2005 Toyota Tundra

The first generation Toyota Tundra really changed the game for Toyota trucks. All of the sudden, Toyota was making a full size truck and starting to compete with the big 3 here in the states. In 2004 the double cab was unveiled and in 2005 the truck finally got the necessary upgrades to make the power it needed from the beginning. The 2uz 4.7L v8 was given the vvti treatment in 05 and the tundra got a new 5 speed auto trans. This makes the 05 and 06 models of the tundra by far the most desirable and most useful iterations of the first gen in my opinion.

This truck lived the majority of its life under one owner down in Jackson Hole, WY. From 40k miles to 280k miles, that previous owner drove this truck all over the west. When I got the truck from a family friend, it was in dire need of a timing belt service (based on miles) so I decided to basically park it, order all the parts, get the job done and then rip it for a while. The interior cleaned up pretty well and the bucket seat option is awesome in comparison to the bench seat that many of these did come with. For me, its the little touches like the roll down back window and the 6 cup holders that make these trucks more unique in the Toyota world. Here are some photos.

This truck ended up sticking around town in the hands of another Toyota enthusiast. With 285k and a fresh timing belt/water pump service, it should be ready to keep on ripping for years to come! He hopes to plop a camper in the bed and travel the west. I cant wait to see where this truck will go!
